Nike victim
The "Nike Victim" is a photo of a man with a Nike logo carved into his cheek. The inspiration for the picture shows how will people go to the extremes to follow trends and to be fashionable. Designer labels are getting people obsessed with their creations and this shows that there is a negative side to it and it that makes victims of consumers. Many people like hippies and people who dont believe in material goods would agree with this picture. Of course many people who dissagree with the picture would say its exaggerated, like the owners and creators of Nike. I dont see this picture as a persuasive one, it is only exaggerated in my point of view.
vocational track
I believe that students should be able to choose between a college prep course and a vocational track in their high school years. A student can better themselves for their furures by choosing a course for themslves based on what they want to do when they grow up. All students should not be forced to do something with their education that they dont want. Several schools offer dual enrolment like West Jefferson High School. There are courses you can take outside of high school at another location that is one hundred percent the students choice. i do however believe that knowelege becomes watered down education when you arent preparing for college.
barbie dolls
If i was a parent i would not purchase a Barbie doll for my child. Barbie dolls are not a proper role model for a child that is growing up and is still naive. I couldnt want my child thinking that the ideal womans body is like a plastic doll. If my child was mature enough to know the boundaries of fantasy and reality i might buy it for her. That Barbie is just a toy and is in no way real. When i was a kid i never liked Barbie dolls, i was actually envious of her unreal beauty. I would never want my child to think that she wasn beautiful just because of a fake Barbie doll. I will not buy my child a toy that makes her hate herself for who she is.
handguns
i dont fully believe that handguns should be illegal. Handguns save lives every day, Police use them to protect the people. Criminals would still find a way to get guns even if they were illegal, a criminal is a criminal. Black markets would become more popular and guns would stil find its way to harm people through the wrong hands. People wouldnt be able to protect their families and loved ones. Of course i believe that in the wrong hands, a gun can become a terribly dangerous item. Powerful weapons should be harder to obtain, right now it is very simple to get a handgun. i believe that a psychological test should be taken in order to get a weapon of any decent. In conclusion i dont think that handguns should be illegal, just harder to get.
